ARTCRANK Portland 2009 is set for Thursday, October 1 at The Cleaners at The Ace Hotel, located at 403 SW 10th Avenue in the Pearl District. Admission is free, all posters are priced at $30 and ARTCRANK will donate $5 from every poster sold to Bikes To Rwanda.
Please check the site for updates, and follow ARTCRANK on Twitter and Facebook for the latest news.
I’m thrilled to be a part of the Portland show! My poster is a remix of a drawing from Sweet Ride, a tad bigger than 11″x17″ signed and numbered in a limited edition of 35 prints. After the show I will have any remaining copies for sale at the Sweet Ride shop!
I recently designed this logo for White Whale Studios & Gallery (OBVIOUSLY!) in conjunction with promoting the Grand Opening, coming up next Friday (October 2nd) from 6-9pm. And yes, I know that whale is black. It’s called artistic license, people.
If you’re in the Greenville/Spartanburg area (and even if you’re not), you are most cordially invited to join us and the rest of the Resident Artists for a fun evening of food, drink, being merry, and of course, lots and LOTS of art!
Unbeknownst to most of Greenville, a greatly neglected piece of the Historical Monaghan Mill Village has been undergoing an amazing transformation. A beautiful old home built circa 1890 has been restored and repurposed as the White Whale Studios & Gallery.
The Studio’s name hearkens back to Melville’s infamous tale of a determined white whale outwitting the relentless Captain Ahab, just as the artists, within the walls of this old white house, battle the odds to pursue their work and life’s calling.
The two-story house features a large welcoming front porch, a main gallery downstairs and seven individual working studios upstairs and down. Located three miles from downtown Greenville off 183, it is only one mile from the flourishing Pendleton Arts District.
Friday, October 2, 2009 from 6 pm to 9 pm, the White Whale Studios & Gallery will have its grand opening and the artists, whose work ranges from fine art and pottery to illustration and photography, will have their work displayed and their studios open for exploration.
Just snapped this pic of Annie working on the drawing… it’s just going to get better and better…! Behold the mess that is our current non-living room/studio area. Soon to be transformed back into an actual living space once we’ve completely migrated over to my room at White Whale Studios.
Oh and this always happens to Annie when she makes her graphite drawrings. Every time.

So obviously I am working on a huge Great Horned Owl piece. . . hopefully I’ll get it done in time for the White Whale opening, other wise I guess it will end up being an example of a “work-in-progress”. More of those in-progress photos to come. . .
In celebration of being featured at Poppytalk, we’re having a SALE on all of Annie’s beautifully colorful bird prints at the Etsy shop! $5 off each of Annie’s ornithologically outstanding artworks, from now until the end of the Poppytalk Marketplace (Sept.21st through Oct.16th)! I just had to use the word “ornithologically” alliterated with “outstanding.” Man, that felt GOOD. Hey, it’s true after all.
Each lovingly signed and numbered print comes temporarily mounted on acid-free foamcore and shrink-wrapped for protection and safe transport.
The original bea-YOO-tiful paintings (acrylic on wood panel) are available as well. Email us if you’re interested!
Annie and I are SO excited to be a part of Poppytalk’s curated ‘Mixed Tape’ Marketplace this month!!! A big thanks to Jan and Earl for selecting our shop to be featured amongst all the other great sellers! If you’re so inclined, please visit our virtual table here. YAY
