Got the stamp made, and Caroline liked it so much she volunteered to get arthritis from cutting all these strips and stamping them for our artwork tags (we’ll write our names, titles, and prices on them by hand). I made the little rearrangement after she was done. Tee hee.

Sometime soon I’m going to put together a black + white zine of random drawings, prints, sketches, collages, and experiments that have never really seen the light of day… in the meantime, here’s a mix in 72 dpi for your screen-viewing consideration.

(Below): This one here’s a remixed drawing of an album cover from a band called The Cairo Gang. I saw the used CD in a box at the Festival of Faith & Music at Calvin College a few years ago and had to buy it simply because of the awesome album art.

Oh and this is Franz Schubert. His “unfinished” Symphony No.8 rocks my socks off.

I came across these guys probably about a year ago via Behance, and I was immediately blown away by their work. So much variety, so much experimentation with all kinds of media and tools, and yet so much excellence! Seems like whatever this Linsey and Daniel set themselves to do, they work at it until it really works. You can see by the consistent quality (and variety) of their work that they simply have really good taste, and they have really good skills, be it exquisitely rendered linear drawings, digital collage, photography, or a “fresh and unexpected” cross-breeding of any medium at their disposal. Their motto sums up their experimental approach:
Bison holds the belief that experimentation is the key to discovery and thus finds ways around the tried and tested approach, producing a fresh and unexpected result.
“I am always doing that which I cannot do, in order that I may learn how to do it.” - Picasso
How’s that for inspiring. Jeez. Of all the artists/designers out there working in 2-dimensional media (however many dimensions it takes to get them there), I think I’d have to say with conviction that these guys inspire me most of all.
Be dead sure to check out their site, kids.
