A few months ago, I completed all of the artwork for a new fully-illustrated version of John Piper’s poem JŌB. The 128-page hardcover book is now available.
Pick up a copy here. And check out the book’s website (by Portland Studios) here.
Poem by John Piper
Artwork by Christopher Koelle
Design and layout by Matt Mantooth and Christopher Koelle
Published by Desiring God
From the publisher:
Job lost everything: his wealth, his health, and his ten children. All swept away in one satanic storm. Reduced to a heap of flesh, ashes, and tears—rebuked by friends and jeered by strangers—righteous Job wrestled over the purpose and presence of God in the midst of unbearable pain.
With moving illustrations by Christopher Koelle, John Piper unfolds the story of Job in beautiful, compassionate poetry and revels in God’s sovereign and surprisingly joyful purposes in allowing exquisite suffering in the lives of his saints. An uplifting book, especially for those experiencing great suffering and loss.
Here are a few artwork samples from the book:

“I often hear now-a-days, the automobile instigated good roads; that the automobile is the parent of good roads. Well, the truth is, the bicycle is the father of the good roads movement in this country.”

Popdeck, a skateboard design contest site, recently launched a new site called Deckpeck.
Designers upload skateboard and wheel artwork, and customers order the decks directly from Deckpeck. It’s awesome for artists and designers to get their own boards made, and it’s awesome for skaters to get original decks and support the artists, who split the profit with Deckpeck. Woo hoo!
Check out my Deckpeck store at koelle.deckpeck.com
My decks are priced at $50 each. Show me some luv and buy one for yourself or your hip skateboarding fellow dude/dudette.

The verdict is in, the writing’s on the wall, the Top 10 are announced, and mine didn’t make it.
Thank you so much to all of you who supported my efforts and helped spread the word by emailing, posting, blogging, and flat-out spamming your friends and family. Thank you for helping promote my design and my work in general—you know who you are. You are wonderful people. Congratulations to DBH for getting a ton of free advertising and for picking some cool designs aaaaaaand some not-so-cool ones.
And of course, congrats most of all to the artists who now have a fighting chance.

This is one of the few designs up for voting at Design By Humans that I’m reeeeally wanting. Yes, it’s crazy, it’s strange, it’s cryptic, it’s almost non-sensical . . . BUT I LOVE IT AND I DON’T KNOW WHY . . . . . . . . . . .
So, please do me and the world a favor and vote for mr. tastyhills’ design ‘Cross-section’ at DBH!
I’d really like to continue to post about more designs I’ve been digging. This one’s for starters.
